FAT BERRY DSP — ONE PHRASE, THREE CHOICES Listening and settings worksheet | 31 October 2026 https://fatberrydsp.com/listening-room Purpose: decide whether a sound change serves a specific arrangement. This is a practical exercise, not a blind test or a technical ranking. 1. THE BRIEF What should this part do in the song, scene or spoken recording? What would count as a useful change? Name one thing to listen for. 2. YOUR SOURCE AND SETUP Source you own or have permission to use: DAW / operating system / sample rate / buffer: Product / version / preset or starting setting: Keep the source, routing and comparison gain consistent. If you use our first-session MIDI, read its included CC0/import terms. Do not redistribute licensed source samples as part of this exercise. 3. MAKE THREE TREATMENTS A — Restrained: change one control and record its exact value. B — Obvious: make that effect easy to hear, avoiding clipping. C — Context: choose the setting that works with the full arrangement. Write down the changed values. Keep an original/reference version. For an instrument, keep the MIDI phrase and performance controls fixed. 4. LISTEN IN CONTEXT Compare the same phrase at a comfortable level. Keep / revise / bypass: What changed in the attack, sustain, space, tone or diction? Did the change help the stated job, or only make it louder? If you matched loudness, record how. Otherwise do not call it matched. Check the exported file as well as the live session. 5. OPTIONAL PRIVATE FEEDBACK OR SHOWCASE Send one short example link and one specific question through the listening-room form. Private feedback is the default. Choose public reuse only if you own or can authorize every included element. No prize, publication, response time or positive review is promised. Do not send confidential client material, patient data or passwords.
