FAT BERRY DSP — ONE CONTROL, ONE AUDIBLE DECISION 30-minute synthesis lab for tutors and adult learners | 31 October 2026 https://fatberrydsp.com/plugins/synth-berry Learning objective: explain how one documented sound parameter changes a fixed musical phrase, then justify a choice in the arrangement. BEFORE CLASS Check the current product page, supported format, OS and DAW version. Use an existing entitled installation or a trial where available. Each person uses the appropriate individual account and licence. This worksheet does not grant classroom, shared-user, institutional or future-catalogue access. Teaching arrangements are agreed separately. For a free alternative, adapt the exercise to FB-60 and its own controls. 0–5 MINUTES — ESTABLISH A REFERENCE Load a working patch and play a short phrase. Save the patch name, version and starting settings. Keep output at a comfortable level. Use a phrase you own or our original first-session MIDI with its terms. 5–12 MINUTES — MAKE ONE CHANGE Choose one documented filter, envelope or oscillator parameter that is present in the selected product. Predict what will change. Play exactly the same phrase. Change only that parameter. Record the actual parameter name and both values; do not guess a range. 12–20 MINUTES — COMPARE AND EXPLAIN Record the reference and changed versions in the DAW. Compare the full phrase. Describe a concrete audible difference. If output level changed, document the comparison method and trim. Do not call a comparison loudness-matched without measuring/matching it. 20–27 MINUTES — GIVE THE SOUND A JOB Place the part in a small arrangement or imagined scene. Choose the original, changed or a revised setting and explain why. Check that exports play and that the work recalls in the saved session. 27–30 MINUTES — LEARNING CHECK Ask the learner to name the parameter, show the two actual settings, describe the difference and justify their choice against the brief. There is no requirement to prefer the changed sound or buy a product. OPTIONAL FOLLOW-UP Use https://fatberrydsp.com/listening-room for practical examples and the private-feedback route. Do not share learner identities or client recordings. Public reuse requires a separate explicit choice and rights.
