Whisper of Satan: place the low-end emphasis deliberately
Use the coupled resonance and low-frequency attenuation to focus kick, bass or a selected low layer, then compare the optional bass colour.

Choose where the weight should feel centred
Whisper of Satan shapes existing low-frequency material with a resonant emphasis and attenuation below it. It is useful when a kick or bass needs a more definite centre of weight rather than a new generated octave. Begin with the actual phrase and the other low-frequency part playing.
Listen for the musical note or region you want to support. A bass line crosses several pitches, while a kick may have a prominent initial weight and a falling tail. A useful setting should work through those events rather than simply making one held note more impressive.
Amplitude and Frequency describe a coupled contour
Amplitude changes the strength of the contour. It is not a general output-volume control. Frequency uses a 0–10 dial whose mapping depends on Center 40 Hz and Center 100 Hz. The dial moves from the higher end towards the lower end as its value increases.
Both switches off gives 18–60 Hz; Center 40 alone gives 20–62 Hz; Center 100 alone gives 50–180 Hz; both on gives 100–305 Hz. Choose the range before sweeping. Fat Berry adds nonlinear colour to the bass portion, rather than a separate subharmonic generator.
Workflow one: give a kick a defined low centre
Use the kick with the bass and include several hits rather than one isolated example.
- Begin with a small Amplitude setting and choose the centre-switch range appropriate to the kick's useful weight.
- Move Frequency while hearing the complete event, including its decay.
- Increase Amplitude only until the emphasis supports the groove.
- Compare Fat Berry off and on as a separate colour decision.
- Match the comparison level in the host and hear the next bass note.
As the resonance grows, the response below it changes too. A stronger setting does not simply mean more bass everywhere. If the kick becomes uneven, overly pitched or less distinct from the bass, reduce the contour or choose another region.
Workflow two: focus a bass-guitar or synth line
Use the full line, including its lowest and highest notes, with the kick available.
- Choose a range that addresses the part's foundation or body rather than defaulting to the deepest setting.
- Sweep with restrained Amplitude and identify a useful relationship across the notes.
- Compare the optional bass colour only after the main contour works.
- Use the host's level control for the final loudness comparison, because the plugin has no separate Output or Mix control.
A setting that emphasises one note at the expense of the rest may make the line feel less consistent. Revisit the region and amount before adding compression or another layer. The useful contour should support the played phrase, not dictate its accents accidentally.
A creative use: a resonant answer from a short low source
Process a duplicate low tom, short synth note or selected bass event as a separate host layer. Choose a more obvious contour and blend that answer only where the arrangement has room. The original can retain its attack while the additional layer supplies a deliberate low emphasis.
Hear the layer's ending and the next downbeat. Resonance can occupy more time than the original event suggests. Control its arrangement with edits or host automation rather than assuming the Frequency dial changes the source's note or that the plugin generates a fresh sub oscillator.
Compare the complete low-frequency relationship
Before committing, use Bypass and a fair host-level comparison through a whole phrase. Listen for a clearer centre of weight, a useful response below it and optional colour that does not obscure the original rhythm. Check more than one section of the song.
Keep Whisper of Satan when its coupled contour supplies the specific focus the source needs. A small emphasis in the right place can be more useful than a larger low-end change that makes every event compete.
