Endless Mistakes offers Loop, Multi-Head and Studio engines with separate timing, recording colour, feedback treatment and output control.
For engineers
Route selected words from the host to a wet return and choose a repeat time that fits the gap. Filter the feedback so each return carries less unwanted low end and a useful amount of consonant detail.
Use ducking when the return competes with the incoming phrase. Select its source and placement deliberately: wet-output ducking and ducking the feedback injection change different parts of the behaviour. Listen through the next sung line rather than judging the throw in isolation.
In Multi-Head, compare a head pattern before adding strong modulation or saturation. Adjust head levels and pans so some repeats act as accents rather than equal copies of the original. The source rhythm and the echo rhythm should leave useful spaces together.
Keep feedback low while establishing the pattern, then increase it only until the tail reaches the intended next event. A head-level or fine-time change can give a fill more identity than a larger wet level.
Freeze lets the existing loop become material for a transition while filters, drive and diffusion remain relevant. Try a small parameter move on a captured percussion or keyboard fragment and manage the return level as the texture changes.
Time Change determines the character of retiming. Varispeed introduces pitch movement; Glide-Free uses a different transition approach, and Pitch-Lock belongs to Studio. Leave a controlled way out of a frozen or high-feedback sound and check the complete tail before printing.
