EIGHT

Start with one kick and one snare part playing a short pattern. Set the kick's Tune and Decay against the bass before adding extra Dirt or effects. Then choose how much Body and Snap the hit needs to remain clear at the intended playback level.

An engine choice changes the underlying sound generator; its A/B model is another meaningful comparison. Try those before compensating for a poor source choice with strong processing.

Use note velocity, the sequencer's accents and restrained Humanize to distinguish important beats from passing notes. Compare a shorter Decay on crowded subdivisions with a longer note at the end of a phrase.

Chance can thin or vary a pattern, but preserve the hits the groove depends on. Set the seed deliberately when you want a chosen variation to remain repeatable rather than accepting a different pattern as automatically better.

Assign an engine such as Tom, Metal or Perc to a part and tune it for a complementary role in the arrangement. A few purposeful notes can make a transition more distinctive than a second full drum pattern.

Choose Multi when the host needs the parts on their separate outputs and enable the relevant buses there. Stereo is the simpler combined path. Tail Policy determines whether ringing material is retained or cut when the transport stops.
