Start with Grain and Body low so you can hear the chosen source's attack and register. Use the MIDI performance to establish note length and dynamics, then move Source and Formant until the tone supports the part.

A lower formant can suggest a larger voice without changing the MIDI phrase's notes. A higher formant can bring a smaller, sharper character; compare both in the arrangement instead of treating the control as an ordinary transpose.

Body brings in the resonant-body contribution, Geometry changes its character, and Breath supplies an air-related dimension. Adjust them while holding a note so you can distinguish resonance from a grain texture or a brighter source.

The mod wheel adds to Breath. Leave room on the Breath knob if you want the wheel to create an audible increase during a phrase, rather than beginning with that axis already at its limit.

Raise Grain gradually to move beyond the source's normal continuity. A sparse, higher-register phrase makes that transformation easier to hear; a dense chord with strong grains and long ambience can quickly obscure articulation.

Use Drive and Squeeze for a more forceful layer, then add Delay or Room for placement. Delay Sync follows tempo when enabled, so decide whether the repeats should support the groove or drift independently.
