Tangerine Flange in use

Tangerine Flange offers Classic, Thru-Zero and Cluster models with a pitched comb structure, multiple voices and a musical timing system.

For engineers

How it works.

Move a guitar without losing its chord

Start in Classic with one voice and a modest Amount. Set Pitch for a comb region that complements the guitar, then compare Feedback at restrained settings. Too much resonance can make one note dominate every chord.

Damping changes the recirculating high-frequency energy. Use it when the sweep draws attention to pick noise or upper fizz. Match Output Trim before comparing the treatment to bypass.

Make the sweep land with a transition

Choose a tempo Note length and Feel that fit the phrase. A slow sweep over several bars can help a drum or guitar transition feel directed; Free uses Rate instead when a tempo grid is not the desired motion.

Compare Thru-Zero with the same musical passage and listen to the point where cancellation becomes conspicuous. The effect can be dramatic, so use host automation or a dedicated return to confine it to the part that benefits.

Turn a plain sustained sound into a cluster

Try Cluster on a pad, sustained guitar or reverb return and introduce additional Voices gradually. Pitch, Scale and Width affect the resulting structure, so hear the intervals and stereo image rather than counting voices as an improvement.

Mix is signed and participates in the comb response. Negative settings change the polarity relationship; this is not an ordinary dry-to-pure-wet fader. Compare both sides of centre at a restrained level and keep enough of the original pitch identity for the arrangement.

Questions

Something else? Contact support

Does Pitch transpose the source?
It tunes the comb structure. The source still supplies the performance, while the resonant peak/notch pattern changes around it.
Why does negative Mix sound different?
Its sign changes the polarity relationship in the effect. The control is deliberately different from a conventional positive-only dry/wet blend.
Does Rate work while a Note value is selected?
Free is the timing choice for the independent Rate. Use the musical Note and Feel settings for tempo-based motion.
What happens when the trial ends?
When the trial ends the plug-in stops processing audio until you buy it. Sessions still open, and buying needs no reinstall.
Can I get my money back?
Yes. On top of your statutory rights, there's a 14-day money-back guarantee. Read the refund policy
