Signal path
This page focuses on whether bus compression helps the groove. The existing drum-bus chain covers transient shaping, colour and width, so those steps are linked below rather than repeated here.
Change the order if the material asks for it. The reasons are in each step.
Listen to the unprocessed drum group in the song. If one kick or snare dominates, adjust its track first; do not force the bus compressor to rebalance the entire kit.
Use The G’s stepped timing to compare how the gain reduction returns between hits. If the kick drives unwanted pumping, compare its detector high-pass while keeping the rest of the setting stable.
Trim the final output for a fair bypass comparison. If the snare loses its useful front edge, compare less compression, different timing or a lower parallel Mix before adding another processor.
The processed kit should keep its accents and relationship to the bass. Check a quiet fill and the loudest section. If compression only makes it louder, keep the bypassed version.
This is the product’s existing demonstration, with its own source and settings notes. It illustrates the tool; it is not a new recording of this checklist or a measured comparison with another product.
