Character Pack questions
- Is Character Pack a mastering bundle?
- Partly. Mastering Tape Suite, Valence and Summation are used on the master bus, but the pack also includes destruction, multi-effect and subharmonic tools that are usually track processors. It is a colour bundle, not a mastering chain.
- How many colour stages should I use at once?
- Usually one, or two if they do different jobs. Stacking tape, valve and summing colour can make the low end muddy before the limiter arrives. Compare each stage at matched loudness and keep the one that serves the record.
- Does Cranberry replace a bass instrument?
- No. Cranberry generates subharmonic bands from the existing low end; it does not play notes. Use it to reinforce a bass part, not to create one.
